Ash Class - EYFS

Welcome to EYFS at Temple Normanton Primary Academy.

We welcome all nursery and reception children (some old faces and some new) and your parents and carers to our Early Years class. We are highly committed to a smooth and happy start to this academic year and we are already so proud of how well you have adapted to the big changes you have encountered so far.

In our class, we teach daily phonics, Literacy and Maths lessons every morning, where Nursery and Reception children are taught separately in small groups, and in the afternoons we all come together to learn about the wider world through play and exploring. We read stories and sing songs as many times as possible and we spend time talking to the children, learning about their likes and dislikes which supports our future planning.

On a Monday and Tuesday, Miss Wallis is the teacher and on a Thursday and Friday Mrs Wilkins is, we are BOTH there on Wednesdays! Miss Horsfall is our teaching assistant all week and you will sometimes see Mrs Fox too.

We ask that parents encourage their Reception child to read their Phonics home reading book at least three times a week, recording each read in their reading record, and to practise any sounds we send home. We will also provide some half termly fun homework for children to complete at their pleasure (please see website).

Parents of Nursery children, please enjoy singing the weekly nursery rhymes we send home in their nursery rhyme books.  Please everyone, enjoy story books together and share our love of reading.

Our P.E day is Friday!

Please come and see us if you have any questions.
